therapy is a journey of discovery

LC Counseling's mission is to empower you to reconnect to your whole and complete self so you can be your authentic self.

Lucia Cucinotta (Therapist and Founder of LC Counseling) is grounded in a person-centered approach to therapy where existential themes, gestalt therapeutic practices, and research based mindfulness techniques are incorporated into the therapeutic healing model of exploration, insight, and action.

Lucia specializes in working with individuals and couples who are struggling with grief and loss, processing and recovering from trauma, managing difficult life and/or cross cultural transitions, managing depression and anxiety symptoms, low self-esteem and view of self worth, and sexual intimacy and connection.

Lucia believes we are whole and complete, yet the structures and communities we live in might have us feeling like we are lacking, broken, and/or that there is something “wrong” with us. Life can be hard, and it can make us hard. Hard on ourselves, hard on the people we love, and hard on the people we interact with. As we grow and live through the natural stages of life, and the expected and unexpected events that arise, the strategies we consciously or unconsciously developed throughout our life to keep us safe and regulated might no longer be working for us. They might even be causing us distress or dysfunction. Our helpful coping strategies have become unhelpful, and this is where therapy comes in.

Meet Lucia Cucinotta, MSED, MA

(she/her/hers)

I am a culturally responsive and affirming mental health and wellness professional with over 10 years’ experience living and working with people from all walks of life. I am curious about how we create meaning in our lives and how that meaning supports us or holds us back in living our fullest and most authentic lives.

I am a Master’s Level Counselor and Therapist working in Pennsylvania under the guidance of a Licensed Supervisor. I have an M.S.Ed. in School and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (2023) and an M.A. in Education and Human Development from the George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development (2011). I passed the National Counselor Examination (2023) and am working towards full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I am a 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and have experiencing teaching yoga, mindfulness, and Ayurvedic self-care practices to individuals and groups in a variety of settings. I served as a Youth and Development Volunteer in Peace Corps Morocco from 2011 to 2013, which were some of the most informative and transformative years of my life.

getting started

Set up a complimentary 30 minute consultation with me to see if my specializations and approach meet your needs and that I can provide you with the appropriate level of care. If you decide I am a good fit for you, I will set you up for your first session and send you all the necessary forms to begin therapy.

In our first therapy session, we will collaboratively develop a plan that supports you in reaching your goals. Then we will begin the process of uncovering the patterns that are holding you back from making the little shifts that will make a big difference in you in living your most authentic life.

In therapy, like life, there is a start and an end but this does not mean that the healing journey is linear. Therapy is organic, and similar themes and patterns are re-addressed and explored at different levels. This doesn’t mean that therapy is not working, this is the sign that it is working, because you are doing the work.

Therapy at LC Counseling is about getting better at feeling, and through getting better at feeling, you can begin to feel better. By becoming aware of your thoughts, feelings, and emotions in the here and now you can begin to ask yourself what are is my feeling telling me? Is it true? It is helpful? Is it aligned with who I want to be for myself and others? This powerful practice can wake you up to the choices and possibilities that exist in your life so you can live your fullest and most authentic life.

As a pre-licensed therapist, I am self-pay and do not accept insurance directly. I do provide invoices after each session for you to apply for reimbursement from your employer or insurance directly. I operate from a sliding scale pricing system (that may be of equal or lesser value to your insurance co-pays) for individuals ($80/$100/$120 per session) and couples ($100/$120/$140 per session). Pricing will be discussed and agreed on in the complimentary 30 minute consultation.

True healing and health is possible through love and connection to your authentic self, to the people and communities around you, and to the flow of your life.
